Does it need maintenance?
Thanks to the fact that the magnets never actually touch, the mechanism has minimal metal-to-metal interaction and little mechanical wear.
We will still include a tool with your order for emergencies.
The only instance we found of wear is from extensively flicking a non-Black Edition ring at high speeds. We recommend keeping this to a minimum. Thanks to the DLC coating, this is not something you have to keep in mind for the Black Edition Polar rings.
Is it comfortable to wear?
79% of Ratchet Ring V2 owners report wearing their ring daily [2024 customer survey, the Ratchet Ring and Polar Ring share the same external design].
One of our main focuses when designing our rings is to make sure that they are comfortable to wear in daily life. This means that while the Polar Ring is thicker than most rings, it's thin enough to not bother your other fingers when wearing it.
What strength are the magnets?
The magnets used in the Polar Ring are graded N52 - the strongest neodymium magnet you'll find.
What do I get with my order?

How wide and thin is it?
The width and thickness of the Polar Ring is constant for all sizes and the measurements are:
- Width: 7 mm
- Thickness: 2.8 mm
Where does my order ship from?
All orders, size exchanges and returns go through our shipping partner based out of Ohio, United States.
If you’re from the EU, don’t worry. This doesn’t mean you’ll have to pay any extra import fees or VAT. We take care of that in advance for you, at no extra cost to you.
Why shouldn't I flick a non-Black Edition Polar Ring fast?
The reason we do not recommend to flick a non-Black Edition Polar Ring fast is because the frictional properties on the Black Edition is superior to those of the Classic Steel rings.
If you flick a Classic Steel/ design ring fast, the metal to metal interaction can shave of small particles of the steel, and they can interfere with the magnets.
This does not happen with the Black Edition rings (including Two-Tone) due to the superior frictional properties and the increased hardness of the surface.
Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Shop Pay, Union Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna (select countries checking out in Euro € or SEK), Bancontact (Belgium) and iDEAL (Netherlands).
All payments are securely encrypted by 256-bit SSL Encryption Technology.
Are there any taxes or duties?
The United States and countries in the European Union are free of duties and taxes.
VAT and all other duties/taxes/fees are paid for during the checkout process for all countries. This means that you pay for them in advance instead of when your order reaches your receiving country's customs. You will not pay any other fees to receive your order. The amount is the same total you would pay to get your package released from customs.
If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to email us at hello@projectratchet.com.
Can I make changes to my order?
Please email us at hello@projectratchet.com and we’ll see what we can do for you based on the stage of your order. We’re unable to cancel or edit any orders that have been processed or dispatched.
Is it waterproof?
The Polar Ring is water resistant but not water proof. We recommend keeping water exposure to a minimum, but occasional exposure to water is okay. We recommend you take off your Polar Ring when washing your hands daily to ensure its longevity. This is because water could potentially interfere with the magnet bindings over time. Never expose your Polar Ring to any kind of alcohol.
What material is it made of?
The Polar Ring is machined in 316 Stainless Steel.
316 is a highly durable and corrosion resistant grade of stainless steel.
The Polar Ring Black Edition has a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating. This means that an additional (and highly durable) layer of carbon with a diamond-like structure is added to the surface to change the color.
How exactly can the Polar Ring help me with anxiety?
The Polar Ring acts a discreet outlet of any nervous or jittery energy you may have. When you feel anxious, turn the ring gently, feel the stimulation of the clicks, and take a few deep breaths.
The tactile clicks of the Polar Ring is something you will always have control over, even when the world around feels chaotic.
Is it suitable for neurodivergent individuals?
Yes! The positive effects of the Polar Ring can be even more pronounced in this group of people. Neurodivergent people often have unique sensory and motor needs, and the Polar Ring can provide a way to meet those needs in a discreet and constructive way.

Honestly surprised by how much I love the new Polar ring. I own the original V1 design Ratchet ring and although I love it and they did an amazing job, I was never always happy with it. Sometimes was inconsistent and can only go the one way. Haven't tried the V2, which is probably what I'd be more happy with, but this Polar ring is what I'd prefer.
I love everything that involves magnets and this one is no different. The perfect tactile feeling, slightly louder clicks with lighter rotations and nice and quite with a little bit of pressure. On top of that, with the black, being able to speed spin it is also really fun and addictive aha.
They absolutely knocked this one out the park and is honestly perfection 👌.
The only thing I'd personally want would be a wider band version.
Great quality!
This is a second review, its been around 6 months from when I last had the Ratchet Ring and heres my thoughts.
I had a size 10 Black Edition that was POLISHED and unfortunately broke in the span of one week, dont let that dismay you from buying though, I’m personally just clumsy and tinkered with the internals and I guess it fell out and I snapped the spring.
I got size exchange done and the team even gave me a new Seigaiha design for free on top of changing the size, this is something the company should be merited for, as they are extremely kind and understanding, their customer service is ONE OF ONE.
I’ve had this Black Seigaiha Ratchet Ring for a couple days and here is my thoughts.
Firstly, I do wish the design was little more noticeable, you only truly get to appreciate in the light which is a bummer because I love this Japanese esque design.
Secondly, I adore the spring mechanism, but I am very afraid of breaking it again, you may feel the spring jump around when wearing the ring and pressing the outer shell which may mean its not fitting 101% tight and clean, but it is extremely fitting.
Thirdly, I found out you can adjust the amount of resistance the spring has by pushing it down even further, you can make it more louder or more quiet so its definitely more customisable than the Polar Ring, but the Polar Ring is definitely more safe and theres less to worry about. (Just keep in mind about the spring breaking)
And lastly, no spare spring!!! I swear I remember being told about there being a spare spring just in case, but I never received it I guess? I just wish there was a spare in case of an accident.
I heard about the Polar Ring too, I might buy one for my brother and I’d love to make another review about that ring too, in the near future!
Overall, despite these flaws, the overwhelming feedback and support from the team heavily outweigh the cons. I will always appreciate this team for their transparency and dedication to the craft.
Good going August :)
TLDR: Ratchet Ring is really good! Just wish I could see the design more! Spring may scare you, so don’t tinker around with it unless you really need to!
I love this ring! It's still has a lot of the fidgeting of the ratchet ring, but both ways and a fun way to spin it fast (on the black ring only due to friction). Absolute must have for anyone that needs to fidget anywhere.
As someone with ADHD, I often find myself fidgeting in some way or another. This ranges from deconstructing any pen that I get my hands on to constantly bouncing my knee. This has often detracted from my ability to concentrate, which I don't have much leeway with, given that I am a premed student. I have experimented with various other fidget toys, ranging from basic spinners to enthusiast sliders, and ran into the same two problems with all of them: I would constantly lose them, and I didn't like the feeling of having drawn attention to myself. The combination of being easily distracted and absent-minded in tandem with having to go from class to class meant that I have left many expensive fidgets to live out the rest of their days under a desk or wedged between a chair. Whenever I used a fidget toy, I often felt watched and judged, as if having something to fidget with was incongruous with being an adult. In comes the polar ring! The haptic feedback is incredible! It stretched that itch in my brain, all while being relatively silent. It is also incredibly easy to maintain with the included tool and detailed cleaning instructions. I would recommend this ring to anyone who needs something to fidget with but also wants to keep a low profile.
I used to peel my nails all the time, any chance I got when I was bored. Now with the polar ring, I can turn the ring instead of peeling my nails. This is honestly really embarrassing as a girl because I feel like having beautiful nails makes one look more presentable. I've only had the ring for a couple days so my nail peeling habit hasn't totally gone away, but I can already see an improvement since I think about peeling my nails less frequently!!
The polar ring functioned as anticipated for a week before developing a rattling sound. When disassembled, I found that the magnets from the external ring had detached from their adhesive and attached to the magnets of the internal ring. So, I used JB Weld to reattach the magnets. Now, it works amazing.
Coming from a ratchet V2 in black edition I was very excited to get my polar in Black Edition Seigaiha as I really like the look of the design and I could not wait to spin multidirectional.
Pros:
• With standard rotation(like you would with ratchet ring) the polar is almost silent. If you have ambient noise nearby such as the TV you won't notice the sound. If you really give it a good spin(which I've read is only suggested with the black edition) you will receive more of an audible haptic sound.
• I personally as a fidgeting ADD dad love to have something to keep my hands busy when I am doing something like binging a show with the wife. This definitely lives up to the standards set by ratchet V2. I'm really enjoying the haptic vibrations felt through my finger when I give it a good spin. Once the spin stops the magnets give it an abrupt halt and it's a fun feeling for me. Understandably this is a subjective feeling but hopefully I've explained the sensation well enough for readers to get an idea.
• Beautifully made as my ratchet V2. Feels very solid. Will also be taking off to wash hands and hopefully not leaving it behind ever. It's a great feeling to have my ratchet on one hand and the polar on the other as it seems to keep me from going after my cuticles if I have no other fidgets options around. Good object to put anxious energy into as well.
I must reveal why I personally cannot give a 5 star on the polar. To the con. Notice I didn't say cons. Just one thing.
Con:
• I had no idea that the design was going to be textured. Coming from the ratchet V2 black edition with no design I just assumed it was a smooth design on the black coating but instead it is what feels like an etching or something. The texture (on my nuerodivergent level) is not for me. I would compare it to a soft emery board(nail file). Again this is totally subjective and you as the reader may love that feeling. I suppose if it was smooth as I had assumed it would be Id be giving the polar a 5 star! I just feel like after enough spins the design itself is going to get dirty with dead skin cells off my thumb and not look as nice and need cleaned often. Only time will tell. Heck maybe with enough spins the design texture will even smoothen out if I'm lucky.
TL;DR project ratchet knocked it out of the park with the polar ring. I just personally am not a fan of the texture feel of the design.
