Can’t stop won’t stop ratcheting around…busy hands clear mind has been my motto since I received the ring…plus the quality and design are outstanding

Polar Ring

I have the original v1 ratchet ring and I have been rocking it since the Kickstarter. I have always wanted the v2 but never had the money yet. Until the polar ring teaser came out and I decided it get it. I love it!!! Quiet yet still tactical and both direction is so perfect! I just wish they can bring back the turtle design as permanent option! More customization and design patterns would be nice!!!

Incredibly satisfying

I’ve been wearing this all day for the last few days since I got it, and it’s like a hit of dopamine every time I turn it.

Perfection!

Honestly surprised by how much I love the new Polar ring. I own the original V1 design Ratchet ring and although I love it and they did an amazing job, I was never always happy with it. Sometimes was inconsistent and can only go the one way. Haven't tried the V2, which is probably what I'd be more happy with, but this Polar ring is what I'd prefer.
I love everything that involves magnets and this one is no different. The perfect tactile feeling, slightly louder clicks with lighter rotations and nice and quite with a little bit of pressure. On top of that, with the black, being able to speed spin it is also really fun and addictive aha.
They absolutely knocked this one out the park and is honestly perfection 👌.
The only thing I'd personally want would be a wider band version.

A HIGH QUALITY companion!

This is a second review, its been around 6 months from when I last had the Ratchet Ring and heres my thoughts.

I had a size 10 Black Edition that was POLISHED and unfortunately broke in the span of one week, dont let that dismay you from buying though, I’m personally just clumsy and tinkered with the internals and I guess it fell out and I snapped the spring.

I got size exchange done and the team even gave me a new Seigaiha design for free on top of changing the size, this is something the company should be merited for, as they are extremely kind and understanding, their customer service is ONE OF ONE.

I’ve had this Black Seigaiha Ratchet Ring for a couple days and here is my thoughts.

Firstly, I do wish the design was little more noticeable, you only truly get to appreciate in the light which is a bummer because I love this Japanese esque design.

Secondly, I adore the spring mechanism, but I am very afraid of breaking it again, you may feel the spring jump around when wearing the ring and pressing the outer shell which may mean its not fitting 101% tight and clean, but it is extremely fitting.

Thirdly, I found out you can adjust the amount of resistance the spring has by pushing it down even further, you can make it more louder or more quiet so its definitely more customisable than the Polar Ring, but the Polar Ring is definitely more safe and theres less to worry about. (Just keep in mind about the spring breaking)

And lastly, no spare spring!!! I swear I remember being told about there being a spare spring just in case, but I never received it I guess? I just wish there was a spare in case of an accident.

I heard about the Polar Ring too, I might buy one for my brother and I’d love to make another review about that ring too, in the near future!

Overall, despite these flaws, the overwhelming feedback and support from the team heavily outweigh the cons. I will always appreciate this team for their transparency and dedication to the craft.

Good going August :)

TLDR: Ratchet Ring is really good! Just wish I could see the design more! Spring may scare you, so don’t tinker around with it unless you really need to!

I love this ring! It's still has a lot of the fidgeting of the ratchet ring, but both ways and a fun way to spin it fast (on the black ring only due to friction). Absolute must have for anyone that needs to fidget anywhere.

Love it

So addictive, feels and looks great. Plus biting my nails has gone down tremendously

Probably the best fidget toys I've ever purchased

I bought two Black Edition Seigaiha Rings, one Ratchet Ring and one Polar Ring, which I have used every day for the past week. I will give my overall review momentarily, but first let me review each of the rings separately:

The original Ratchet ring is extremely satisfying if you like slow, tactile feedback. You can feel and hear each satisfying click as you spin the Ratchet Ring around. It feels great to spin over and over, and of the two rings, it is much more satisfying to do absentmindedly. I spin it a lot, all day long, without even realizing I’m doing it. It is consistent, however this consistency also makes it boring. If you are in a situation where you need more stimulation, it can only do the one thing, and only in one direction (because of how ratchets work), making it better for absent-minded fidgeting than active fidgeting. This brings me to the Polar Ring.

The Polar Ring, unlike the Ratchet Ring, can spin in both directions. Project Ratchet marketed the Polar Ring as an alternative to the Ratchet Ring that spins in two directions, and can do it quietly. While that all sounds nice on paper, there is a clear tradeoff to using magnets rather than ratchets. For one, yes, the Polar Ring is quiet, but that is representative of one of its shortcomings compared to the Ratchet Ring: It is not as tactilely satisfying. The reason the Ratchet ring makes a clicking noise is because of the resistance the ratchet experiences moving from one tooth to the next. In my opinions the magnets don't provide enough resistance or tactile feedback as you slowly spin the ring. Also, being able to spin in both directions is certainly nice, but its not the boon I thought it was, I end up just spinning it counterclockwise (on my right hand) most of the time anyways.

If these were its only traits the Polar Ring had I’d honestly be disappointed. So then, why do I like the Polar Ring? Simple: You can flick spin the ring really fast. If you apply pressure down onto the ring with your thumb (spins longer if you use the opposite hand’s thumb), then flick-spin the ring, the outer layer with temporarily unclicks from the magnets holding it down and spins around really fast for 0.25-2 seconds before the magnets re-lock it into place, with the length depending on how hard you spin the ring. It makes a super satisfying whirring sound as it spins around. Truly by far the best feature, and best for those that like actively fidgeting with something and putting concentration or energy into fidgeting with them. It provides the same fidgeting satisfaction as, say, a fidget spinner, but it is MUCH more satisfying than a fidget spinner. And of course, all though the tactile fidgeting it not as satisfying in my opinion, it is still there, so this versatility make the Polar Ring pretty great overall.

A note: You can only flick-spin Black Edition Rings, as August explains in the FAQ section. I would caution anyone away from buying any Polar Ring that is not Black Edition, as flicking the ring fast is by FAR the best feature of the Polar Ring, in my opinion. If you get a non-Black-Edition ring that cannot be flicked due to potentially damaging the ring, you are simply not getting your money's worth.

I also want to talk briefly about the benefit of having these high-quality fidget toys that are rings. I didn’t really realize how much I would use these when I got them, but there’s something to be said about the sheer *convenience* of having fidget toys as rings. However, this is part of what makes them superior to most other fidget toys: you have them when you need them. I can’t tell you how many times I have been in a situation where I wished I had something to fidget with but I completely forgot to bring something to fidget with. If you wear these throughout the day, you won’t forget to have a fidget toy on hand when you need one. It’s really nice to be able to fidget with something when, say, walking from your car into a building, without having to go through the efforts of pulling a fidget toy out of your bag or pocket. Also, unlike most fidget toys, you can use them while you are holding things in both hands. I myself get a lot of satisfaction from clicking the Ratchet ring while holding the steering wheel driving my car.

Lastly, I know some people online balk at the price of these rings, and honestly, I did at first as well, but after having them for a week, the saying “you get what you pay for” comes to mind. You can see and feel their quality. These are truly well-made, wonderfully-crafted rings, and they are absolutely worth the price tag.

TL;DR: All in all, I truly love the Project Ratchet rings, and find them to be truly game-breaking for fidget toys. Both of these rings are great for different reasons. The ratchet ring is better for slow, absent minded fidgeting, while the Polar Ring is better for energetic, active fidgeting. If you have the money, I'd recommend getting one of each, one for each hand, for the...

The Grail of Fidgets!

As someone with ADHD, I often find myself fidgeting in some way or another. This ranges from deconstructing any pen that I get my hands on to constantly bouncing my knee. This has often detracted from my ability to concentrate, which I don't have much leeway with, given that I am a premed student. I have experimented with various other fidget toys, ranging from basic spinners to enthusiast sliders, and ran into the same two problems with all of them: I would constantly lose them, and I didn't like the feeling of having drawn attention to myself. The combination of being easily distracted and absent-minded in tandem with having to go from class to class meant that I have left many expensive fidgets to live out the rest of their days under a desk or wedged between a chair. Whenever I used a fidget toy, I often felt watched and judged, as if having something to fidget with was incongruous with being an adult. In comes the polar ring! The haptic feedback is incredible! It stretched that itch in my brain, all while being relatively silent. It is also incredibly easy to maintain with the included tool and detailed cleaning instructions. I would recommend this ring to anyone who needs something to fidget with but also wants to keep a low profile.

Helping me break a bad habit!

I used to peel my nails all the time, any chance I got when I was bored. Now with the polar ring, I can turn the ring instead of peeling my nails. This is honestly really embarrassing as a girl because I feel like having beautiful nails makes one look more presentable. I've only had the ring for a couple days so my nail peeling habit hasn't totally gone away, but I can already see an improvement since I think about peeling my nails less frequently!!

Excellent quality metal, beautifully crafted

Quality was much higher than expected. The clicks are a little softer than i imagined howver still satisfying. Found that i should have ordered ring size slightly bigger as this ring is harder to remove from the finger as a traditional ring. I’m definitely going to buy another one in the future ☺️

Great ring, way less thick than I thought, which is great for small hands like mine. Definitely doing its job keeping me from biting my nails or pulling my hairs, and it looks great too, what's not to love ? :)

Precisely made Amazingly Satisfying

I got one of the last rings in stock and boy am I glad. If you’re thinking the price is high, you’ll be pleasantly surprised because the workmanship and tolerances in the ring are fantastic. The click is very satisfying. If you wrench in cars and love the way your watcher clicks, this ring is for you! I just can’t wait until they re-stock some of the special colored ones.

I'm loving my Ring. It took one day to break it in and now it's running smoothly click. click, click

Anxiety relief!!

It was by chance I found the advertisement for the Rachet Ring. The name was intriguing, I had to learn more.

I have been suffering from extreme anxiety resulting from years of abuse. Panic attacks were a normal for me and medication only helps to a certain point. I have tried different things through the years, only to be a waste of money and time.

I was hesitant due to the cost of one ring and fear it would be another waste of money and time. I eventually decided to give it a try.

I wasn't sure what to expect with the rachet sound, thinking it might be annoying. I actually find it soothing and comforting in a way. The spinning in conjunction with the rachet sound helps with concentration, has a calming affect and takes your mind off of things.

I would love to have one of each design but cost and time will tell. I would recommend the Rachet Ring to anyone looking for something that definitely helps with anxiety and isn't a gimmick.

On a side note, August- one of the co-founders, is absolutely hands on with any concerns or problems. For me, that makes a world of difference and a peace of mind.
